Why Use a Timeline?

A timeline is perfect for recording where someone lived and what significant things happened every year of their life. Try filling out your own timeline first. This will help you remember what year you were married, where your kids were born, when you changed jobs, and countless other important places and events. Once you've filled out your own, you'll see how valuable a timeline can be in tracing your family's history. The timeline is also a great tool for interviewing with Capture the Memories books.

Use a research log to keep track of records you have already searched. It's a great way to avoid duplicating your efforts.
